I hate to be the bearer of more bad news...but we've lost another icon. This person, a little less well known, but very much a fixture in the community I just moved from. Savannah, Georgia lost Miss Sema Wilkes of Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House yesterday. That's the last meal I eat on my way out of Savannah. I know it's a bold statement, but it's the best fried chicken in the city. And sweat tea? Goodness gracious...those ladies can cook.
Decided to dress up today, rather than yesterday...my costume? Euro-trash...mashed cigarette and all.
We have this discussion we created here in Lincoln...it's more like a game, I guess. Think of a person...anyone...doesn't have to be a person of prominence. They’re driving; the gas light comes on and you are working the pump at the local full serve (which still exists here in Nebraska). Do they get free gas?
Example - Stevie Wonder...he gets free gas. James Brown...he gets 1/2 off, but he may have to pump it his own damn self. Now remember...this is a one-time shot. This is the one occurrence that this person comes up to the station at your shift and you get to make this decision - this judgment. Another example - my friend Charles. Charles gets free gas. Our friend Ryan - he gets $5 off, but he's washing his own windshield.
So, try it. It may be the next, hottest cocktail party topic. Hell, it's better than some of the other conversations I've had to listen too...
