Sigh...deep sigh. I join many people in mourning the death of Mary Hansen, a member of Stereolab. I was at a gathering in Houston in 1997 when a person I never met told me, "Go out and find Dots and Loops by Stereolab. You will be amazed." The sounds and sonic orchestra they created was inspiring, confusing...sometimes annoying...but always filled with intrigue. So...go, find that album, play track 4 - Diagonals - and you will hear what I mean.
Very excited about another visit to the Sokol Auditorium in Omaha this Saturday to see our old friends Hey Mercedes. They will be opening up for The Get Up Kids and causing a ruckus. The Kids are apparently going to be minus another KC favorite - Shiner has announced their end. I mentioned trying to see them in a previous post...but a deer in the road spelled doom for their 2nd tour bus...so much for not believing in omens. I'm just full of good news...
The coffee drinking is a dead issue...the first thing that comes to my mind is the title of a popular play right now..."I love you, you're perfect, now change!" But it's trying to alter myself to fit into the acceptance of someone else. I know it's a metaphor...or a double entendre...one of those things. But it's not easy being the perfect one no one wants...that's not fair...being the perfect one everyone wants for a little while, then chooses something else. Too harsh? Yeah...you're right...I ain't so perfect.
