Took in a double bill last night...Junior Mighty and Golden Age. Junior Mighty is a very stripped down, experimental two piece - doing modernist...uh...music. The most entertaining was the use of multiple instruments and arrangements - ukulele, banjo, xylophone, recorder...all beneath video of a road trip. And none of it tongue-in-cheek.

Golden Age (I hate to say) was very typical senso-pop. The problem with the post-modern / art rock movement is that most of the male songwriters and performers live in the flat side of the scale...and tend to sing that way too. No matter how important the songwriting is, if you play me a 1-hour set and sing flat all night, I'm not going to enjoy it. Also doesn't help if you stay stuck in the 3/4 time.

Leaving for Texas in the morning for one week of holiday madness - cross your fingers.

Over lunch, a conversation about people who keep running into one another by chance. The speaker quoted a book saying those people had "unfinished business." Does this count for the girl I keep seeing at these rock shows? I can't think of a faster way to receive a drink in the face than by walking up and saying "Hi. You don't know me...but cosmically, we have unfinished business."
