I understand that your senses trigger neurological responses in your brain...and a most common response is memory. To me, the sense of hearing helps he to recall the most memories, mostly hearing a song or a phrase. But my sense of smell seems to have a more impressive and complete recollection.
Example - while living in France last year, I spent a considerable amount of time in a hotel...small room, open windows over the main street, very distinctive smell of (and I'm guessing here) limestone and sandalwood (it's a fine place...great location - ask for Ishem). Coming back into the office today, after lunch, I caught that smell and was immediately transported to that place. I closed my eyes and felt myself looking out that window, putting clothes away in the closet, going down the stairs for a walk. I hope other people have the same reaction to other senses - I would feel badly if they didn't...such a rush.
The snow has returned and stuck around - very different for a Texas boy. Thanks to the folks at The Moose's Tooth - Lincoln for keepin' a brother warm.
