Upstate New York, for those who don't know, is beautiful. The people (locals) need some work, but the area is really pretty. Drove the 17 highway from Binghamton to NYC through the Catskills this weekend on my way to Connecticut. You drive by the Delaware River - lots of fly fisher...people. I wan gonna say fisher MEN, but it was raining and cold...there could have been fisher WOMEN and I don't want to offend the 2 feminists who read this site. You think I'm joking.

Met up with the Hey Mercedes guys on the road to Boston. They are going in to record their latest in Cambridge. Played a college show Saturday in a really bad room to uncertain college freshmen. I don't think it's just me, but undergraduates at Southern schools have more certainty and presence. These kids looked like they were expecting the "lock-in" to begin any minute.

It's a great day when you know you will see My Morning Jacket. I am way behind on my "2 times a week" promise for live music - but South by Southwest absolves me for missing at least a month. MMJ at the Mohawk place in Buffalo, NY - next Wednesday. I'll be the guy with the recently shorter hair.
