Fresno, California does nothing for me...but Madera is excellent. Heavy agricultural area - orange groves, olive trees, vineyards, almond trees and cherries - I've been good to the local roadside vendors. Right now, I'm working in a vineyard, looking at a 60 foot tall stile that makes 193 proof alcohol...kinda like sitting next to a 60 foot Roman Candle. The best thing about my job has to be the tours of the different production facilities. Today, I witnessed the process of making boxed wine...and got another set of safety glasses, booties and the very necessary hair net. Wine making at this facility is big. How big? 100,000 cases of wine a day - big...and only 20,000 of the boxed variety.
